Last night my wife and I watched 'La Vie En Rose', the film of Edith Piaf's life story. This classic French singer had an incredible voice. She turned an ordinary ballad into a heart cry. I found it quite moving, as Piaf had led such a tragic life - yet the image of God could be found in her powerful stage performance. The movie uncovers the depth of need in people's lives, and also highlights the staggering potential of the human spirit. God knows when a sparrow falls.
