Description
Whenever we are in Wales visiting my relatives, the wife and kids want me to drive them over the Horseshoe Pass near Llangollen. I am a complete chicken when it comes to this. I drive a bit slower than normal, and my hands become welded to the steering wheel. The rest of the family are saying, 'Look at that sheer drop, dad!' Me? I just respond with some drivel like, 'I can't look – I must keep my eyes on the road'. The whole of North Wales drops away beside us in a panoramic spread, and I keep my eyes peeled to the tarmac ahead. Of course, there are safety reasons for that. But are we missing something of the grandeur of God, because our work 'for him' keeps our eyes set on the road ahead? Sometimes we have to leave the 'ministry road' and sit, to take in the mighty view.
