The Lord bless and keep you | |
Description
It is good to bless one another. Wayne Drain and I wrote this song based on the benediction of Numbers 6:24-26:
“The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face towards you and give you peace.”
This song works well as a final part of a service, when sending people out. I have encouraged people to sing it to each other and we have seen some very moving things happen as they hold hands, embrace and bless one another. It is very powerful when you look at someone and sing “God be with you”.
The song could be used as part of a dedication service, for weddings, baptisms etc. Also good when we are encouraging people to greet each other with the peace of God, midway through an event.
Wayne and I hope you enjoy using it in your meetings.
Try it this weekend and let me know what happens.....

 | Played it today at the end of a Nativity service - folks loved it and started a party!
They put the tune up on the screen that helped people learn it faster - available elsewhere on this magnificent journal website.
The ultimate accolade was when a more mature lady said to me afterwards -
'Charlie - that tune is better than the John Rutter version!' Posted by: Charlie Churchill 13:35:45 20th Dec 2009 |
 | Hi Luke. We sang it over our grandson at his dedication. It is good to sing blessing over people, particular our children. Congratulations to you. Posted by: Noel Richards 20:46:51 1st Dec 2009 |

 | Used this song to good effect last Sunday at the close...it was new to them and they struggled a bit with the syncopation of the third line - but hey they are enjoying it.
Once learned, they turn to one another and bless each other - and then bunch themselves together in a group from the 4 corners of the church and the place goes crazy.
Also Heaven's King links snugly from Open the Eyes of My Heart - and keeps the momentum running.

 | Hey Noel,
I'm very happy about the response to the song
we're getting from place to place. It's always
encouraging to write a song that finds a home
with different worship leaders and different
churches. This song is being placed in our
rotation here in our church and it's great to
hear people walking away from a meeting humming
this little tune!
